The Cowboys are approaching “season from hell” territory.
The year just continues to get worse for Jerry Jones and Dallas as starting quarterback Dak Prescott exited the contest in the second half with a hamstring injury on Sunday.
The Fox broadcast also showed that he appeared to have injured his hand.
Dak Prescott (4) watches from the sidelines. Prescott left Sunday’s game with what the Dallas Cowboys call a hamstring injury. Getty ImagesPrescott and the Cowboys were already trailing the Falcons in an eventual 27-21 loss at Mercedes-Benz Stadium that dropped them to 3-5 on the season.
“I felt something pull,” Prescott said afterward. “I felt something I’ve never felt.”
Cowboys backup Cooper Rush came in to play quarterback following Prescott’s injury.
Rush launched a third-and-long, all-or-nothing bomb to star wideout CeeDee Lamb, which came up short.
The pass was heavily contested, and Lamb was slow to get up on the play.
He was removed from the contest and was called questionable to return with a shoulder injury as the Cowboys made a last-ditch effort to close the gap while down 27-13 late in the fourth quarter.
Lamb did return to play after the two-minute warning, catching a two-point conversion pass, but grimacing in pain afterward.
Dak Prescott is tackled by Nate Landman of the Atlanta Falcons. Getty ImagesPrescott left the contest after completing 18-of-24 passes for 133 yards and one touchdown through the air.
Following the loss, the aforementioned Cowboy owner, Jones, voiced a level of concern regarding Prescott’s injury.
“Well, I am concerned about that,” Jones admitted. “It concerned me when I saw the play or I saw him have a reaction to any weakness that he might have had there in his ham. We just have to take a look at that.”
Overall, no one appeared happy with the team’s performance for obvious reasons, including Prescott.
Prescott also ran for 30 yards on three carries.
Rush completed 13-of-25 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown.
Prescott earned a record $240 million extension prior to Week 1 this season, making him the highest-paid player in the history of the league.
