The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports the Cowboys are trying to sign WR Miles Austin to a long-term deal.

Austin, a restricted free agent, visited the Jets last week but left without an offer sheet. Today is the deadline for RFAs to sign with another team.

It was speculated the Jets may have been looking ahead at Austin for 2010, when he may have been a unrestricted free agent in a salary-cap-free year. But a long-term deal would keep the New Jersey native in Dallas beyond that.
