Damar Hamlin’s famous first question after waking up in the hospital is being put to good use.
The Bills safety, less than a week removed from suffering cardiac arrest after making a tackle, announced on Sunday afternoon that he was making T-shirts with the quote, “Did We Win?” and two hands making a heart sign. The proceeds will go to first-responders and the University of Cincinnati Trauma Center, that helped save Hamlin’s life.
“We all won,” Hamlin tweeted while announcing the creation of the T-shirts. “I want to give back an ounce of the love y’all showed me. Proceeds of this shirt will go to first-responders and the UC Trauma Center. Go get yours!”
The T-shirts are available at DidWeWin.shop.
Hamlin collapsed on the field during the Bills’ game against the Bengals last Monday night in Cincinnati. He was resuscitated before being stretchered into an ambulance and driven to UC Medical Center, where he was sedated and put on a ventilator while doctors worked to save him.
Upon waking up on Wednesday night, with his breathing tube still in, he wrote a question to his doctors: “Did we win?”
“Yes, Damar,” they told him, “you won the game of life.”
Damar Hamlin (center) is still in critical condition but tweeted along as his Buffalo Bills defeated the New England Patriots 35-23 on Sunday, claiming the No. 2 seed in the AFC Playoffs.

Hamlin has since had the breathing tube removed as he is breathing on his own and has “excellent” neurological function, the Bills said on Saturday. He is still in critical condition but watched the Bills beat the Patriots from the hospital on Sunday and tweeted along with the game.
While Hamlin was sedated, fans, fellow players and teams flooded his GoFundMe page that he had set up for a community toy drive. As of Sunday, it had raised $8.5 million.
