INSIDE ZONE LEFT
WHAT THE EAGLES NEED TO DO ON OFFENSE
1. Three weeks ago at the Meadowlands, the Eagles took the lead on this play when they beat the Giants with their single-back, spread formation. This is classic Andy Reid. He formations teams to death. You are going to see every formation known to mankind in the first 15-to-20 plays, and he sees how you are matching up.
2. Up front, the Eagles have five blockers to take care of the five most-dangerous potential tacklers. They just let Mathias Kiwanuka go free because he is on the outside. The key block comes from a wide receiver, Hank Baskett, who just explodes into Gibril Wilson and takes him out of the play.
3. Reid’s goal is to set up a one-one-matchup between Brian Westbrook and Jason Bell. That’s what he got – and that’s what led to the touchdown.
WHAT THE GIANTS NEED TO DO ON DEFENSE
1. There is nothing scheme-wise the Giants should do differently. The Giants must win individual matchups on this play, which is something they didn’t do three weeks ago. Philadelphia won five one-on-one matchups up front.
2. The Giants’ interior linemen must stay on their feet so Westbrook has no room to maneuver.
3. With three safeties in the game, everyone is playing man-to-man, except Bell. Bell must make the tackle on this play, limiting it to a 3-to-6-yard gain instead of a touchdown. He failed to do that last time, which was the biggest reason for the score.
