DeSean Jackson wanted to be traded, but now he’ll get to choose his next team.
The Rams waived the 34-year-old after Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline after failing to deal him following the wide receiver’s trade request.
“I am very grateful for the time that I spent playing for the LA Rams,” Jackson posted on Instagram. “Although this isn’t the outcome that we wanted, I am extremely appreciative for the opportunity & support given to me by the Rams Coaches & all of the Fans. I understand that everything happens for a reason & I look forward to beginning the next chapter of my NFL career. Thank you.”
Jackson has been playing in a diminished role for the Rams, with just 15 targets in seven games. His one standout performance was a three-catch, 120-yard game in Week 3, which included a 75-yard touchdown. Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Van Jefferson have been the clear-cut top three at receiver, which means Jackson has often been consigned to the bench.

Injuries weren’t an issue with the Rams. Jackson merely couldn’t get on the field.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Jackson has led the league in yards per reception four times, most recently 2018 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
