Desmond Harrison may want to invest in a new alarm clock or travel agent.
The offensive tackle missed his flight to Cleveland this week and was late for the Browns’ mandatory minicamp. Less than 24 hours later, he was out of a job.
“Missed a flight or something. I am not sure really,” coach Freddie Kitchens said Tuesday, per News 5 in Cleveland. “I do not know. I have not got to the bottom of it yet. Missed a flight. I know he missed a flight. I do not know what time he got here so it is hard to tell how he got here.”
By Wednesday, the Browns announced they had released Harrison, who started eight games for them last year at left tackle in the void left by future Hall of Famer Joe Thomas’ retirement.
Harrison, a 25-year-old undrafted free agent, was reportedly facing an uphill battle to earn a job this year anyways. He was benched halfway through last season as Greg Robinson took over at left tackle.
The Browns then signed Robinson to a new deal in the offseason, keeping Harrison pushed down the depth chart.
