The Eagles now know Jalen Ramsey won’t be their defensive savior, and at least one player is furious.

Ramsey was traded to the Rams on Tuesday after weeks of speculation and trade rumors. The Rams sent two first-round picks and a fourth-rounder that reportedly got the deal to the finish line. The Eagles, with their decimated secondary, were among the teams reportedly most interested in Ramsey, though it is unclear what their best offer was to Jacksonville.

“We dropped the ball. I don’t even want to talk about that [expletive],” an Eagles player told ESPN. “Everybody knew what it was going to take to get him. I could’ve told you that.”

Eagles starting cornerback Avonte Maddox has missed the past two games after suffering a frightening injury against the Packers. Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby both returned to practice this week, but their returns might not be a cure-all for one of the worst pass defenses in the league.

The 3-3 Eagles have given up an average of 280 yards per game passing, and that includes a beneficial Week 5 matchup against the Luke Falk-led Jets.

There are doubts that Ramsey will put the Rams over the top, given the struggles of quarterback Jared Goff and the injuries slowing down star running back Todd Gurley. The Rams also traded away starting cornerback Marcus Peters to the Ravens hours before landing Ramsey.

However, one Eagles player has no doubt how much the star cornerback would have helped his team.
