Emmanuel Sanders may be following the Antonio Brown Twitter playbook.
The Broncos star receiver responded “🧐 it ain’t happening.. no way Jose.. ✌🏾” to a tweet Tuesday wondering whether the team should restructure his contract.
If Sanders is unwilling to engage in restructuring talks, the Broncos could outright release the 31-year-old. Sanders is scheduled to make $12.9 million next season, and releasing him could free up $10 million in cap space.
Sanders has been the Broncos’ top receiver, but he tore his Achilles in December, and it is unclear if he will be ready for the start of next season. It still would add an interesting name to the list of available receivers this offseason, which will be topped by Brown, who is expected to be traded by the Steelers after airing his discontent with the franchise on social media this entire offseason.
Sanders, who has played nine seasons for the Steelers and Broncos, had 71 catches for 868 yards and four touchdowns before the season-ending injury.
