Odell Beckham Jr. is going to be a Giant this season — at least, according to college roommate and close buddy Jarvis Landry.

Beckham is going into the fifth-year option of his rookie contract, earning $8.5 million. He reportedly will not set foot on the field until he gets a new upgraded deal, which hasn’t happened. Until it does, there’s going to be speculation about Beckham’s future. And at the height of the reports about the Giants’ willingness to trade him, Landry waded in and tried to recruit his pal.

Fellow receiver Landry — who arrived in Cleveland via trade and inked a five-year, $75.5 million deal — had called Beckham his “brother” and started up a one-man campaign last month to recreate their old LSU partnership with the rebuilding Browns. But on Monday, Landry finally gave up the dream, telling reporters in Cleveland that Beckham was going to stay with the Giants this season.

For his part, Landry said his friend deserves to be the highest-paid player in the entire NFL. Not highest-paid wide receiver, the highest-paid player, period.

“Oh man, I hope he gets paid,” Landry told ESPN. “You know what? He should be. He deserves it. He deserves it, man.”

He just doesn’t think it’ll come from the Browns this year. That, of course, doesn’t mean Beckham is going to ink a new long-term deal with Big Blue. The Giants could franchise him for a year. There are a number of eventual outcomes here. But at least his longtime friend is convinced he’ll be suiting up in MetLife Stadium this season.
