Ron Brace, a 2009 second-round draft pick of the New England Patriots, has died, according to MassLive. Brace was 29. The cause of death was not yet made public.
Brace, from Springfield, Mass., was a star defensive tackle at Boston College before a four-year Patriots career. He totaled 24 tackles with New England before being released in 2012.
Brace was last in the NFL in 2013, when he spent training camp with the Redskins but was cut.
Brace’s family and friends, including former Boston College teammate AJ Brooks and Boston College assistant coach Al Washington, are mourning him on social media.
