Ezekiel Elliott is so eager for the NFL to wrap up its investigation into domestic violence allegations against him, he’s taken weeks to respond to the league’s latest round of questions.

“I do want closure,” the star Cowboys rookie running back declared after Sunday’s playoff elimination, via the Dallas Morning News. “I would rather it not drag on this long. If there was something to find, which there’s not, they would’ve found it by now.

“The police did a very thorough investigation. It just seems like they’re dragging their feet right now. Who knows, man? I’m just ready for it to end.”

Earlier Sunday, ESPN reported the NFL had submitted follow-up questions to Elliott concerning two incidents last year involving his ex-girlfriend — and though he had received the inquiries “within the past month,” Elliott was still in the process of responding.

In November, Elliott’s attorney, Frank Salzano, made a similar tough-talk cry for speedy resolution.

“We firmly believe that the NFL should promptly close its investigation, which is only open because of their apprehensiveness stemming from the recent scrutiny it has come under for its handling of other domestic violence matters,” Salzano said in a statement, referring to the bungled Josh Brown case.

Elliott’s ex-girlfriend accused him in July of abusing her in Ohio, posting (since-deleted) pictures on Instagram of her alleged bruises. The woman also alleged Elliott had pushed her against a wall in February, while they were in Florida. Elliott was not arrested or charged in either alleged incident; no such criminal prosecution is necessary for the NFL to impose discipline, with its baseline of a six-game suspension in domestic violence cases.

The ESPN report — in an addendum made obvious by the Cowboys’ 34-31 loss to the Packers — said Elliott’s potential discipline would be for the 2017 season.
