Just got off the phone with Rick Smith, the agent for Alan Faneca, the best offensive lineman available in free agency. The Jets are making a hard push for Faneca with a four-year, $32 million mega-deal. That’s essentially the same offer on the table the Rams and 49ers have put together for Faneca.

Now it comes down to where he wants to play.

Smith promised that he’d have an answer from Faneca by 6 p.m. today.

“Everyone’s speculating the Jets because of the three teams they’ve clearly been the most aggressive,” Smith said. “They want this guy bad.”
