New York Giants matriarch Ann Mara was laid to rest Friday as friends and family gathered in Manhattan to honor “The First Lady of Football.”
The 85-year-old mother of 11 and widow of late longtime team owner Wellington Mara was remembered at a funeral mass at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola after she passed away last week due to complications from a fall.
Nearly 1,200 people attended the ceremony, including NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, according to NJ.com.
Earlier this week, Goodell described Mara as a “tower of strength, dignity and inspiration” who had a “competitive spirit, integrity and wonderful sense of humor.”
