Former Pro Bowl linebacker Chip Banks was shot and seriously injured on Wednesday in the Atlanta area, according to a report.

The 60-year-old Banks was one of three victims in the shooting, TMZ reported, with one man pronounced dead at the scene. Police said five or six masked men arrived at the residence, shot a man in the driveway and then went inside to shoot two more before leaving the scene.

Officials told TMZ that Banks and the other surviving victim were “alert, conscious and breathing,” and taken to a local hospital. Banks was said to be in “serious condition,” according to the report.

“Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident,” a spokesman for the Atlanta Police Department told the outlet. “The investigation continues.”

Banks was the No. 3 pick out of USC in the 1982 NFL draft and was the Defensive Rookie of the Year that season for the Browns. He went on to make four Pro Bowls and was voted All-Pro in 1983. He later played for the Chargers and Colts before retiring after the 1992 season.
