I don’t believe what I just saw. Do you believe in miracles?
What happened in the final 90 seconds in Cleveland on Sunday just does not happen almost ever in the NFL, and especially not to the Jets. This franchise usually doesn’t have much luck when it comes to winning football games.
Trailing 30-17 with under two minutes to go Sunday and no timeouts, many Jets fans turned the game off. The game was pretty much over, barring some kind of miracle.
Keep the receipts.
The Jets came back thanks to a quick 66-yard Corey Davis touchdown, a rare onside kick recovery and Garrett Wilson’s second TD of the day, capped off by an Ashytn Davis interception to put the nail in the coffin in the final 10 seconds. Talk about making a statement after Coach Robert Saleh’s comments earlier in the week. That’s how you win your first game of the 2022 season.
Brian Costello and I have all your reactions to the Jets 31-30 win over the Browns on a new episode of the “Gang’s All Here” podcast.
‘Gang’s All Here’ Podcast with Jake Brown & Brian Costello
- IMPROBABLE WIN: Not hyperbole to say this could be the most improbable comeback win in Jets history. They have never made a comeback that late in a game before. Jets have to thank Nick Chubb too for not just going down and instead running the ball in for a touchdown. Special teams was light years better than Week 1. Braden Mann’s onside kick was perfect. Greg Zuerlein made a clutch 57-yard kick and all his extra points. Will Parks mad the roster this week and got the onside recovery.
- SALEH/RECEIPTS: Saleh’s team backed up his “keeping receipts” comments this week. They played hard for him for 60 minutes. The defense did not play well, but the offense was much better than last week.
- FLACCO: No question he starts Week 3 against the Bengals and there shouldn’t be any chants for Mike White to play. Flacco made big throws when the Jets needed it. The offensive line was much better and gave him time to throw the ball, which made all the difference.
- GARRETT WILSON IS HIM: We break down what the “HIM” phenomenon means why the Jets rookie receiver is HIM. What a fantastic game from the Ohio State product with family and friends on hand in his home state. This kid is something special and has an explosive first step. He hurt his back and came back from it to make big plays, including the game-winning TD catch.
- JETS FANS ALIVE: 1-1 with Nick Mangold day Sunday at MetLife Stadium. This game now has a whole lot more importance to it against the Bengals. The victory showed maybe this is not the “same old Jets,” like Saleh said.
