The Giants’ 2021 NFL Draft weekend started a little bit later than originally scheduled.
With several of their initial targets off the board before their slated No. 11 pick — thanks in part to the Eagles trading up to select DeVonta Smith — Dave Gettleman traded down for the first time in his career.
At the No. 20 slot, the Giants added speedy Florida receiver Kadarius Toney to their revamped stable of pass-catchers — one that now includes Kenny Golladay.
After Thursday, Gettleman & Co. head into the rest of the weekend with six more picks. Here’s all of them, with analysis from The Post’s Paul Schwartz:
Round 1, No. 20 overall (via CHI)
Burst onto the scene in 2020 with a dynamic first step who can be used in a variety of ways — in the slot, on gadget plays, on jet sweeps and running plays. Also adds great special teams value as a kick returner. Sturdy build, extreme quickness but durability and character concerns are present.
Round 2, No. 50 overall (via MIA)
Azeez Ojulari Getty ImagesTry these stats on for size: 8.3 sacks, 16 quarterback hits and three forced fumbles in 10 games in 2020. The guy makes plays and at 6-foot-2 and 249 pounds has a barrel chest and strength to spare. Concerns about the health of his knee dropped him out of the first round. Needs to diversity his pass rush moves but is a perfect fit as a 3-4 outside linebacker.
Round 3, No. 71 overall (via DEN)
Aaron Robinson AP PhotoPlayed in 13 games as a true freshman at Alabama before transferring. Might be best-suited in the slot as a nickel corner, as his size (5-foot-11, 186) and speed (4.39) make him an ideal fit inside. Will come up and tackle in run support.
Round 4, No. 116 overall
Elerson Smith Getty ImagesSkinny college recruit who gained 50 pounds to turn himself into a prospect. Monster 2019 season (14 sacks, 21.5 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles) was his finale, as his school did not play the fall season and he opted out in the spring. Great range (6-foot-6, 262 pounds), all the athletic ability you need. Will block kicks with his long arms. Needs to develop his counter pass rush moves.
Round 6, No. 196 overall
Gary Brightwell Getty ImagesBrightwell is a big guy (5-foot-11, 218 pounds) who some scouts viewed as a seventh-round pick or a priority free agent. He ran for 1,305 yards in his college career, never getting more than 91 rushing attempts in a season. He averaged 5.3 yards per carry and scored nine touchdowns. He is not considered to be an accomplished pass-catcher out of the backfield.
Round 6, No. 201 overall
Rodarius Williams Getty ImagesWilliams set a school record for the Cowboys with 48 consecutive starts, finishing as a second-team Big 12 selection with seven pass breakups and 18 tackles in nine games in his senior season.
