The full 2023 NFL schedule was released on Thursday. Here is a look at how the Giants schedule shapes up:

Three toughest games

Week 3 at 49ers

Sure, we don’t know if the Niners quarterback will be Trey Lance, Brock Purdy or … Sam Darnold.

What we do know is the Giants will be facing in primetime on “Thursday Night Football” a ferocious defense and an inventive offense, far from home, on a short week of rest.

Week 6 at Bills

The good news is the Lake Erie snow should not be in effect in mid-October in this “Sunday Night Football” clash.

The bad news is the Bills figure to be loaded and Josh Allen is a bear to play against.

This will be a homecoming for GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll, who earned their shot with the Giants thanks to their good work in Buffalo.

Week 16 at Eagles

Any game any place any week against the Eagles can qualify for any “toughest game” list.

The difficulty factor goes up with this being a Christmas Day afternoon game, which figures to be quite a celebratory and raucous atmosphere.

This is a house of horrors for the Giants, losers of 10 consecutive games at Lincoln Financial Field.

Three easiest games

Week 2 at Cardinals

Kyler Murray is rehabbing following reconstructive knee surgery and is not expected until later in the season.

So, the Giants will face their former backup, Colt McCoy, at quarterback, or David Blough or Jeff Driskel.

There will be plenty of blue-clad Giants fans amid the Cardinals red in the building.

Week 7 vs. Commanders

Yes, we know, division games are never easy but some are definitely easier than others.

The Giants went 1-0-1 against the Commanders in 2022 and 0-5 against the rest of the NFC East in the regular season and playoffs.

Dexter Lawrence, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Leonard Williams and Azeez Ojulari will take aim at … Sam Howell?

Week 17 vs. Rams

A New Year’s Eve home game against a regressing team from Los Angeles?

This could be just what the Giants need this late in the season.

They hope the temperatures are low, low, low, and a little freezing rain wouldn’t hurt, either, with the sun-drenched Rams in town.

Three notable games

Week 1 vs. Cowboys

There was a stretch (2012-19) when the Giants and Cowboys met six of eight years in the season opener.

The Giants lost five of those six games.

This one is a “Sunday Night Football” extravaganza at MetLife Stadium.

The Giants in 2022 were swept by the ’Boys.

Week 8 vs. Jets

The teams that both call MetLife Stadium home clash once every four years in the regular season and it is always meaningful when they do — if only for claiming area supremacy.

Aaron Rodgers, if you haven’t heard, now plays quarterback for the J-E-T-S.

This is a Giants home game. How many Rodgers No. 8 jerseys will inhabit the seats?

Week 9 at Raiders

Vegas, baby.

The Giants have been around since 1925 and for most of that time the NFL would have played a game on the moon before venturing into gambling-infested Las Vegas.

Times have changed.

The first-ever Giants game in Vegas will be a return for tight end Darren Waller, who was with the Raiders for five seasons before the Giants traded for him.

Where’s the bye?

It is quite late — in Week 13, meaning the Giants will have played 12 games before they get a break.

Coaches usually prefer a bye closer to the middle of the season.

This respite figures to be an overdue and welcome rest before the final five-game stretch run.

Overall takeaways

The Giants have five prime-time games — three in the first four weeks, so get ready, national audience.

The Giants requested and were granted back-to-back road games for two of their longest trips and as a result will be able to stay in Arizona between Week 2 (at the Cardinals) and Week 3 (at the 49ers), eliminating one cross-country trip.

Five of the first six games are against teams that made the playoffs in 2022, not an inviting way for Daboll to embark on his second season as a head coach.

Based on 2022 records, the Giants, Cowboys and Patriots have the toughest schedules in the league.

This one offers severe challenges for the Giants, as seven of their first 11 games are on the road.

On the flip side, the Giants have just one flight (New Orleans) in the last eight weeks.
