Add Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin to the list of candidates to replace Tom Coughlin as Giants head coach.

Austin will interview with the Giants on Thursday, along with their own defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.

Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase will interview Friday and Doug Marrone, the former Bills head coach – currently the offensive line coach for the Jaguars – will come in Saturday. The Giants already have conducted an interview with Ben McAdoo, their offensive coordinator, and he is considered in some circles as the favorite to land the job.

Austin has made the rounds. He’s interviewed with the Dolphins and Browns and is expected to meet with the Eagles. The Rooney Rule requires teams to interview a minority candidate; Austin is African American.

In his two years in Detroit, Austin’s defense performed better in 2014 than it did in 2015. Austin, 50, is considered to be popular with his players.
