Practice was over, but not for Daniel Jones. He remained on the field late Saturday afternoon, going over routes and throwing passes to receivers Flynn Nagel and Darius Slayton and tight end Ellis Alexander.

“That’s pretty standard for quarterbacks,’’ coach Pat Shurmur said after the rookie minicamp practice. “This is the way Daniel operates. I can see during practice if a route doesn’t get completed he’s kind of clicking it off in his brain, ‘OK, I’m going to get that later.’ Really good quarterbacks are perfectionists.’’

Jones had some good and less-good moments in his second practice. He threw a pass down the field that was deflected by Deandre Baker, a cornerback taken late in the first round, and intercepted by McKinley Whitfield, a tryout cornerback from Tulsa. Later, Jones fired and completed a laser deep ball to Nehari Crawford, a tryout receiver from Duquesne.

Two players signed as undrafted free agents, safety Jacob Thieneman and LB Nate Harvey, have what appear to be serious knee injuries that might require surgery.

The Giants have 88 players on the roster, two under the 90-man limit, and might fill the spots by signing two players who attended the rookie camp on a tryout basis.

“Possibly,’’ Shurmur said. “There have been some guys that have caught our attention.’’

One of those undrafted players to make a mark is Nagel, a slot receiver from Northwestern.

“He’s done a good job of getting open,’’ Shurmur said. “He’s a nifty receiver.’’
