Eli Manning might not be listening, but he is the subject of rampant criticism about his ability to perform for the Giants at 37 years old.

Outwardly, the Giants remain unified behind Manning. None of his teammates says anything within the locker room — at least for public consumption — that questions the loyalty shown to the franchise quarterback.

“I haven’t heard that once in this locker room,’’ receiver Sterling Shepard said of teammates criticizing Manning. “Haven’t heard that from an individual player. That’s just outside noise and stuff trying to break us apart. We’re doing a good job of keeping everything together in here, as far as in the locker room. We have total faith in him, we picked him as our starting quarterback at the beginning of the season and we’re gonna ride with that.’’

As the Giants went their separate ways for a long weekend away from football, many watched NFL games and saw teams marching up and down the field with drives that often ended with an end-zone celebration. Scoring is up, up and away in the league, as an average of 48.3 points has been scored per game — the highest figure through six games in league history.

Everywhere, it seems, offenses are finding ways to score. But not the Giants.

“I watch football, and it definitely looks kinda easy out there for some other teams, but they’re executing,’’ tight end Evan Engram said. “They’re doing their job, they’re limiting mistakes. They’re doing things we got to attack and got to get better at. It’s not a jealousy thing or ‘Why is it not us?’ They’re just doing things that we aren’t doing.’’

The Giants are averaging 19.5 points a game, and that impotency is directly responsible for the 1-5 record.

“I don’t look at those games or teams that are scoring a lot of points and say, ‘Why can’t we score?’ because I really don’t care how many points they score,’’ rookie running back Saquon Barkley said. “One thing I can focus on is how many points we score on offense and how many wins we can get over to this side.’’

There are not enough points, and only one win this season for the Giants.

“Yeah, we haven’t scored enough points and I have acknowledged that we need to,’’ coach Pat Shurmur said. “We got the ball in the red zone a couple of times last week where we didn’t score points. We were stopped on fourth down once, we kicked a couple of field goals, that makes the game a lot different, and I’ve acknowledged that. When you get down there, you’ve got to score points.’’

Manning’s performance and Odell Beckham Jr. having only one touchdown reception (he has thrown one scoring pass) are easy to highlight when examining the offensive ineptitude. It goes deeper than that.

“None of us have played or coached well enough to be where we want to be, so we own that,’’ Shurmur said. “Outside the building, it’s always giving praise and assigning blame. That’s the noise that happens outside the building. We correct each play specifically, each situation specifically, each event in a game specifically, with the idea that if a mistake is made, you correct it and move on. The goal is to not have it happen again. That’s where it is.’’
