The Giants’ draft day expertise could soon be taking a hit.

Big Blue director of college scouting Marc Ross is the leading candidate to become the Panthers’ next general manager, ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting on Twitter. Carolina fired Marty Hurney in October and Brandon Beane has acted as interim GM since then.

Ernie Accorsi, the former longtime Giants general manager, is leading the Panthers’ search, so Ross’ emergence should not come as a surprise. Ross has been the team’s director of college scouting for five seasons. Big Blue’s draft reputation has been stellar in that time.
