Eli Manning was voted the winner of the Bart Starr Award by the NFL players.

The honor is given to the player who best exemplifies outstanding character and leadership in the home, on the field and in the community. The Giants quarterback will receive the award at breakfast on Feb. 1, the day before Super Bowl LIV.

Starr’s wife, Cherry, personally called Manning to congratulate him on Friday. Bart Starr, the legendary Packers quarterback died in May 2019 at the age of 85.

“It really is an honor to win this award Manning said on the call. “I know Peyton won it, and I know so many other great NFL players have won it. It’s something I will cherish forever.”

Manning started just four games for the Giants this season, losing his job to rookie Daniel Jones after Week 2. He has been very active in the community during this career through the “The Eli Manning Children’s Clinics” in Mississippi and numerous other charities and organizations.
