The Giants made the logical move on Tuesday and picked up the fifth-year option on left tackle Andrew Thomas.

The option will pay Thomas a fully guaranteed $14.175 million in 2024 unless he and the Giants agree to a long-term contract before then.

The Giants selected Thomas with the No. 4-overall pick in the 2020 draft, taking him before any other tackle in that draft.

The 24-year-old has emerged as one of the best blockers in the NFL.

He finished last season rated as the No. 3 offensive tackle by Pro Football focus.

He allowed just six sacks on 1,217 pass-blocking snaps over the past two seasons.

The Giants surely will want to get Thomas signed to a long-term deal before the 2024 season.

They have more pressing priorities at the moment, as they are trying to get running back Saquon Barkley and defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence signed long-term during this offseason.

Tuesday was the deadline for teams to exercise or decline the fifth-year options on 2020 first-round picks.

Thomas has played 45 games, starting 44 of them, in his first three seasons.

He was named second-team All-Pro last season.

Thomas has not missed a single game due to injury and has played 100 percent of the team’s offensive snaps in all but two games.
