Could it be Waddle’s former college teammate, DeVonta Smith, selected here? Absolutely. We will forecast that Smith will be taken in the top 10 picks, though. Waddle is hardly a consolation prize. He is the most explosive offensive player in this draft, a big play waiting to happen whenever he gets his hands on the ball. He’s not as tall, at 5-foot-10, as generally preferred, but he is essentially the same size as Chiefs dynamo Tyreek Hill, so there’s that. The Giants signed towering target Kenny Golladay in free agency, but Waddle adds a different dimension to an offense that lacked any semblance of firepower. Plus, Waddle is an electric kick returner. Cornerback Jaycee Horn is a strong consideration at this spot as well.
