The Giants finally have Daniel Jones back.

Jones returns for the Giants on Sunday against the Raiders after missing three games with a neck injury.

At 2-6, it may already be too late for the Giants, but they certainly need a win if they want to remain relevant in the wild-card race.

They face a Raiders team in upheaval after head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler were fired, with former Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce becoming the interim head coach.

Las Vegas also benched Jimmy Garoppolo for rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell.

Are the Raiders ripe for the picking or will they be motivated and give the Giants fits?

Heroes, zeros from Giants’ loss to Raiders: Darius Slayton made things worse

By Mark Cannizzaro

Hero, zero and full blitz from the Giants’ 30-6 loss to the Raiders on Sunday.

Hero

Raiders running back Josh Jacobs finished with 98 yards rushing and two TDs on 26 carries.

Not prolific numbers, but Jacobs set an offensive tone in the game as the Giants’ defense had difficulty containing him.

It took pressure off the Raiders’ rookie QB Aidan O’Connell.

Saquon Barkley: Giants' latest loss 'definitely sucks'

By Andrew Crane

After a week filled with optimism, specifically surrounding the returns of Daniel Jones, Andrew Thomas and Evan Neal, the Giants’ loss to the Raiders — and everything that transpired across those 60 minutes — “definitely sucks,” running back Saquon Barkley told reporters postgame.

Jones left with a knee injury that might be season-ending. Neal left with another ankle injury. The Giants, which dropped to 2-7, allowed 30 points to a Las Vegas team that hadn’t topped 21 through the first eight weeks of the season, too.

“Gotta be a pro about it,” Barkley said. “Can’t make no excuses. Still got a long season ahead of us.”

Evan Neal tells reporters he'll get MRI for left ankle

By Andrew Crane

Evan Neal will also get an MRI on Monday, acknowledging it could be an injury comparable to the one he recently returned from and just on the opposite foot, according to The Athletic.

Neal missed the Giants’ past two games before returning to his right tackle spot Sunday.

Tommy DeVito: Giants need to 'look ourselves in the mirror' after latest loss

By Andrew Crane

Tommy DeVito, after his second NFL appearance, said the Giants need to change after their latest loss to the Raiders, acknowledging that it starts with him — perhaps Big Blue’s quarterback moving forward after Daniel Jones’ knee injury — and then follows with everyone in the organization.

“So even if you think you’re doing something all the way right or doing as much as you can, there’s always more to give,” DeVito said. “Everybody has to change. … We have to look ourselves in the mirror and try to give more.”

Giants in a very dark place with major Daniel Jones questions looming

By Mark Cannizzaro

LAS VEGAS — The medical diagnosis on the right knee Daniel Jones injured against the Raiders on Sunday is not yet official.

The same cannot be said about the Giants’ 2023 season, which arrived to Las Vegas on life support and departed DOA.

That much is official.

The Giants would like what happened on Sunday in Vegas — a 30-6 loss to the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium — to stay in Vegas. Unfortunately, they had to take it home with them, along with their 2-7 record and starting quarterback who might be out for the season.

Daniel Jones 'ran off' knee injury after initial sack before exiting plays later

By Andrew Crane

Brian Daboll told reporters that Daniel Jones "ran off" his knee injury at the end of the first quarter, telling everyone that he was "good."

But Jones then exited plays later with the serious injury after the second sequence — when he appeared to trip behind the line of scrimmage and was ultimately touched for a sack — and didn't return.

Daniel Jones doesn't comment on injury postgame

By Andrew Crane

Daniel Jones declined to comment or speak with reporters in the locker room postgame following his injury, according to ESPN.

After missing three games with a neck injury, Jones returned as the Giants' quarterback Sunday, but he exited in the second quarter with what appeared to be a serious injury. He told reporters earlier this week that he even felt "fresh" because of the multi-week absence.

But after his latest injury, Jones' return for the 2023 season might've lasted just slightly longer than a quarter. It's unclear, at this stage, how long the latest injury will sideline him. The Giants now have an uncertain outlook at quarterback this season after paying Jones $160 million to remain their signal-caller for the future.

Daniel Jones had X-ray done at Allegiant Stadium

By Andrew Crane

Tests started for Daniel Jones at Allegiant Stadium, and they’ll continue Monday to determine the severity of the knee injury that caused him to exit the Giants’ loss to the Raiders.

Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters that Jones had an X-ray done after exiting, with an MRI scheduled for Monday. NFL Network previously reported late in the game there's a fear that Jones sustained a torn ACL, which would end his 2023 season.

Fear of serious Daniel Jones knee injury hangs over Giants’ ugly loss to Raiders

By Paul Schwartz

LAS VEGAS — It had been a long eight games for the Giants and it is going to be an excruciatingly longer final eight games for a team that is in the midst of a horrific season.

The Giants welcomed back Daniel Jones for Sunday’s game against the Raiders but the 26-year old quarterback did not make it out of Allegiant Stadium unscathed.

He got hurt on the final play of the first quarter and went down and out for good on the first play of the second quarter with what looked to be a serious injury to his right knee.

The Giants ended up losing 30-6 in non-competitive fashion and face the likelihood that they will be without Jones for the remainder of the season.

Final: Giants fall to Raiders in ugly loss that included Daniel Jones' injury

By Andrew Crane

The Giants’ ugly 30-6 loss to the Raiders could have massive ramifications, as Daniel Jones, Evan Neal, Jalin Hyatt and Micah McFadden all left with injuries or were examined by trainers during the game.

Jones’ absence would be the most costly one, as the Giants fell to 2-7 and slipped further away from any postseason hope. Tommy DeVito completed 15-of-20 passes for 175 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions after replacing Jones. Saquon Barkley rushed for 90 yards on 16 carries.

The Raiders, though, earned a win in Antonio Pierce’s debut as interim head coach, with Josh Jacobs scoring two touchdowns while quarterback Aidan O’Connell — taking over for the benched Jimmy Garoppolo — sparked an offense that’d been stagnant for most of the season. They moved to 4-5 in a competitive AFC.

The Giants face the Cowboys next week.

Daniel Jones' knee injury could be torn ACL

By Andrew Crane

The Giants quarterback likely sustained a “significant knee injury,” which includes the possibility for a torn ACL, in the Giants’ game against the Raiders, according to NFL Network.

He'll reportedly have an MRI.

#Giants QB Daniel Jones is feared to have suffered a significant knee injury, potentially a torn ACL based on the initial tests, per me and @MikeGarafolo. He’ll have an MRI to learn the full picture.

Two additional Giants shaken up as injuries keep mounting

By Andrew Crane

The Giants, already dealing with key injuries to Daniel Jones and Evan Neal, might've had two others added to their growing list.

Rookie wideout Jalin Hyatt walked off the field, with trainers by his side, as the fourth quarter neared the four-minute mark. He has recorded two catches, on five targets, for 20 yards against the Raiders.

Linebacker Micah McFadden is currently in the medical tent, according to The Athletic.
