Wan’Dale Robinson’s rookie season was trending up, with his most productive game of the season coming in Week 11. There will be no Week 12 for Robinson, though, as he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Sunday’s 31-18 loss to the Lions.

Robinson’s season is done. He caught nine passes for 100 yards against the Lions — both season highs — but went down on the first play of the fourth quarter after catching a pass on the right side that picked up 6 yards.

Robinson, a second-round draft pick from Kentucky, battled a hamstring injury earlier in the season and played in only six games. He ends his rookie year with 23 receptions for 227 yards and one touchdown.

“He was really trending in the right direction, really feeling healthy and had quickness,’’ coach Brian Daboll said Monday morning.

The loss of Robinson, who was placed on season-ending injured reserve, further depletes an already depleted position, with Sterling Shepard done for the season with a torn ACL, Kadarius Toney traded away to the Chiefs and Kenny Golladay mostly a nonfactor this season. The Giants will meet with free-agent Odell Beckham Jr. after Thanksgiving and there is certainly a need for reinforcements at wide receiver.

Beckham, 30, is coming off a second ACL reconstruction in the same knee. He will also meet with the Cowboys. The Giants have interest in their 2014 first-round pick but this is a new front office regime led by general manager Joe Schoen and the first order of business is determining if Beckham can pass a physical and make a meaningful contribution down the stretch of this season. There are also financial considerations, as the Giants are not going to commit big money to Beckham in 2023.

Asked about Beckham, and if there is a need to add a receiver for the stretch run, Daboll said, “I think that’s something that Joe and I will talk about. Just like all the spots, this will be another discussion that we’ll have.

“We have plenty of receivers on the roster, as you know. So, it’s a short week. We’ll get the guys ready to go, and we’ll revisit things like we always do each week and see where it goes.’’

The receiver situation is a mess. With Robinson gone, the options are Darius Slayton, Golladay, Isaiah Hodgins, Richie James and Marcus Johnson. Slayton was not in the rotation at the start of the season but has of late been a workhorse. Golladay finally showed up on the stat sheet with two receptions against the Lions. Hodgins had three catches but lost a fumble in the fourth quarter. James had his punt return duties taken away after two muffs in Seattle and came away with his first touchdown for the Giants with a 9-yard scoring reception Sunday when the Giants were down 31-12. However, he is dealing with a new knee issue and was not at Monday’s walk-through,

The timing of this injury is unfortunate for Robinson, as he will undergo surgery and might not be ready for the start of the 2023 season.
