The first addition for the Giants on the first day the NFL’s negotiating window opened up is not going to move the needle.

New York signed wide receiver Robert Foster, a player with ties to new head coach Brian Daboll and new general manager Joe Schoen.

Foster, 27, was at Alabama during Daboll’s one year (2017) as Nick Saban’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Foster entered the NFL in 2018 as an undrafted player, signing with the Bills, where he reunited with Daboll. Schoen at the time was the assistant general manager in Buffalo.

The Giants also re-signed receiver C.J. Board.

In 30 NFL games, Foster has 32 receptions for 642 yards and three touchdowns. He last played in the NFL in 2020 with Washington. He was on the Cowboys practice squad in 2021 and signed a reserve/future contract with Dallas, but was waived last week.

Foster has three 100-yard receiving games in his career, all in 2018, with two of them coming against the Jets.

In college, the 6-foot-2, 194-pound Foster encountered shoulder injuries and finished his Alabama career with 35 receptions for 389 yards and three touchdowns. In his one year with Daboll, Foster had 14 catches for 174 yards and one touchdown.

Board, 28, has been with the Giants the past two years. He played in the first six games in 2021 before a fractured arm sent him to injured reserve. His career numbers: 17 receptions for 183 yards. He has averaged 25.2 yards on 13 career kickoff returns.

The offense Daboll will install and new offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will preside over figures to feature Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney as the main receiving threats. Neither player scored a touchdown in 2021. The Giants also will bring back Sterling Shepard, coming off surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon. Shepard agreed to a hefty pay cut to stay on the roster.
