The Giants assured themselves of having perfect attendance for the start of training camp from their nine-player NFL Draft class today when they signed Hakeem Nicks, the first-round pick who the team expects big things from almost immediately.

Nicks, a sure-handed receiver from North Carolina, signed a five-year deal worth $12.5 million. That allows him to make on on-time arrival tomorrow when players report to the University at Albany.

During the spring mini-camps and OTAs, Nicks showed himself to be far more polished than most first-year receivers and gave the offensive braintrust reason to believe they can use him early and often in his rookie year. Of course, the grind of training camp witll be another hurdle for Nicks. The first practice comes Monday morning and Nicks will be on the field.
