Justin Tuck’s surgically repaired left shoulder forced him to miss Giants practice Friday, and the defensive end said it’s possible he could have to deal with the injury throughout the season.

The Giants are listing Tuck as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Titans, but Tuck said he “absolutely” will play. He said when he woke up the shoulder was stiff and the Giants told him to sit out practice.

Asked if it’s related to last season’s shoulder problem, Tuck said, “A little bit.”

Tuck suffered a partially torn labrum in Week 2 against the Cowboys last year. He played all season with it, but his sacks dropped from 12 in 2008 to six.

Will the shoulder impact Tuck on the field this year?

“I’ll be able to answer that question after the game,” he said, chuckling. “I don’t know. But it’s different. Last year I was injured. This year it’s just hurting me, so I’m good.”

Tuck said the shoulder impacted him “a little bit” against the Colts last Sunday.

“I think the thing I’ve got to be is, I’ve got to do a great job of communicating when I’m feeling something and not try to be a hero every day. That can get you in trouble in this league,” Tuck said. “You’ve got to get in, get your treatment and it’s a physical game. You’re going to have bumps and bruises, but you’ve got to be wise enough to take care of them right when they happen. And that’s what I’ve got to do a better job of doing.”

C Shaun O’Hara is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game. Backup Adam Koets likely will start.
