The time has come for Big Blue.

The Giants will face the Vikings in East Rutherford at 1 p.m. ET as they look to turn the page on an ugly 2023 season. Sam Darnold will be under center for Minnesota, who lost rookie QB JJ McCarthy to a season-ending knee injury.

Malik Nabers will make his regular-season debut and could ignite New York’s offense, which scored the third-fewest points (266) in 2023.

Another change for the Giants this season is coach Brian Daboll taking over play-calling duties.

Offensive tackle doesn't fault fans

By Zach Braziller

Unlike Dexter Lawrence, Jermaine Eluemunor didn't fault Giants fans for booing. The newcomer understands those boos will turn to cheers with better play.

"I mean, shoot, I don't blame them," he said. "We need to be better, and we will be better. It's New York City, they want to win."

By zbraziller2

Dexter Lawrence was not a fan of the Giants' faithful getting on the team. He told reporters he doesn't respect booing.

"I get it, they want to see their team win," Lawrence said. "It's just a rough patch. It is what it is."

Daboll: Starts with me

By Zach Braziller

Brian Daboll took responsibility for the ugly performance, saying, "it starts with me." He said he would have to look at the film to see what went wrong exactly, but he did not think about benching Daniel Jones.

"We've got to do a better job all-around, starts with me," the Giants' coach said.

Giants get crushed in opener

By Zach Braziller

That'll do it. It was ugly. Giants lose to the Vikings, 28-6. Couldn't have gone worse. Daniel Jones threw two interceptions. The defense was gashed by Sam Darnold. It was 312-240 in total yards for the Vikings. Giants managed just 74 yards on the ground. Very few positives, if any.

Jones throws another interception

By Zach Braziller

Daniel Jones was intercepted for the second time, this time in the end zone. More boos followed. It was 4th-and-8, so Jones had to be aggressive. Harrison Smith stepped in front of Darius Slayton. This one feels just about over. What a disastrous opener for the Giants.

Pick-six may have ended Giants' day

By Zach Braziller

The first turnover of Daniel Jones' season is a pick-six and extends the Vikings' lead to 28-6. Jones was was picked off by Andrew Van Ginkel, who returned it 10 yards to the house. More boos for the Jones and the Giants. Jones never saw Van Ginkel.

Vikings lose No. 2 receiver

By Zach Braziller

Jordan Addison has been ruled out for the rest of the game with an ankle injury, a big break for the Giants. The Vikings' No. 2 receiver had three catches for 35 yards before suffering the injury. It will allow the Giants to focus even more attention on Justin Jefferson.

Giants get a little closer with field goal

By Zach Braziller

Graham Gano has been the Giants' offense. He now has made two field goals after hitting from 50. It's 21-6 Vikings with 6:08 left in the third quarter. Defense has to come through now.

Giants lose Coughlin

By Zach Braziller

The Giants defense, already struggling, is now without Carter Coughlin for the rest of the game with a pectoral injury, the team announced.

Giants fall behind 21-3

By Justin Tasch

Sam Darnold hits Jalen Nailor for a 21-yard touchdown and the Vikings have taken a 21-3 lead early in the third quarter.

A shaky half for the Giants

By Zach Braziller

The Giants heard boos as they left the field trailing, 14-3. It was ugly. The Giants produced just 87 yards of offense. The defense allowed two long touchdown drives. Daniel Jones was sacked twice and completed 8-of-16 passes for only 55 yards. Sam Darnold picked apart the Giants defense. Really not much to like about that half. Looked a lot like last year.

Giants in an 11-point hole

By Zach Braziller

The Vikings go 99 yards and take a 14-3 lead on a 3-yard touchdown pass from Sam Darnold to Justin Jefferson on 4th-and-2. Jefferson torched the Giants on the drive, making a 44-yard grab earlier in the possession. Darnold, the former Jets quarterback, is a perfect 10-for-10 for 136 yards and a score. Deonte Banks was beaten on the TD.
