tRY IT NOWAfter practice Friday, the offensive lineman said he feels better than he has the past two weeks ahead of the “Sunday Night Football” Week 3 clash against the Chiefs.
The new feeling comes after three consecutive practice days, which is a first for Thomas this season.
“Starting to build a volume and get my confidence back. It’s exciting for sure,” he said.
Nevertheless, Thomas is listed as questionable and it’s expected to be a game-time decision whether or not he plays in the Big Blue’s MetLife Stadium home opener.
It depends on how well he recovers from this week while keeping the focus on “longevity,” he said.
Andrew Thomas talks to reporters after Giants practice on Sept. 19, 2025. Noah K. Murray-NY Post“Don’t know,” Thomas said of his confidence for Sunday. “Make a game-time decision, but I’m feeling a lot better than I did last week.”
So far this season, Thomas was limited in a single full pads practice, but was not involved in one this week. However, coach Brian Daboll’s plan has been for Thomas to increase his workload.

Murray-NY Post“You want all the padded reps you can get and missing training camp was tough,” Thomas said. “I get the reality. The guys have had a lot of snaps, so I’m not frustrated at that. I’m confident in my ability and if I feel good, health wise, I think I can do my job.”
Thomas said he is confident he can play a full game, but is open to the idea of a rotation with rookie backup Marcus Mbow who shined against the Cowboys, allowing two pressures on 37 dropbacks off the bench.
A rotation is not something Thomas has done yet in his career.
“Years previous we’ve done that with different positions,” he said. “It’s not the easiest thing because you want camaraderie, but I think we have a good group of guys and veteran experience. I think we can make it work.”
On Friday, Daboll said Mbow likely would be the backup if Thomas plays rather than plugging him in elsewhere such as at guard, which he played at Purdue.
Mbow, who hasn’t taken reps at guard in an NFL practice yet, said he would be comfortable playing at the position if needed.
“If I had to, yeah. I’ll do whatever I can to help the team win at the end of the day,” he told The Post. “If that’s what it takes, that’s what it takes.
“I don’t feel like it would be the hardest adjustment in the world. It’s been a while, but at the end of the day, it’s football. If you’ve got the heart, that’s mostly all you need. If you go out there and play your ass off, you should be all right. You should stand a chance.”
The fifth-round pick came in as a hero for the Giants in last week’s loss to the Cowboys after James Hudson III committed four penalties on the first drive. Off the bench, he allowed just two pressures on 37 dropbacks.
