Washington won 21-6 in what was a lopsided contest. Russell Wilson struggled in his regular-season debut.

Brian Burns’ two sacks were a lone bright spot for big blue.

By Rob Reese

There was a pregame report that rookie QB Jaxson Dart had been included in some packages for Sunday's game against Washington.

However, that never came to fruition. Coach Daboll took it a step further by saying he never even considered putting the rookie in today.

Russell Wilson has nightmarish Giants debut in season-opening loss to Commanders

By Paul Schwartz

LANDOVER, Md. – After an eight-month layoff, the Giants played their 18th game of the 2024 Season That Everyone Wants To Forget, and it went just as poorly as most of the others.

Wait a second.

Sunday was supposed to mark the start of a new season – and new era – with positive vibes and more talented players? You could have fooled the fans watching the Giants lose 21-6 to the Commanders.

Russell Wilson did not look like the advertised cure-all to an offense that finished No. 31 in scoring last season.

Failed fourth-down attempt sends Giants home

By Rob Reese

That'll do it. After a patchwork drive for the Giants, it all ended with a failed fourth-down attempt where Russell Wilson missed Wan'Dale Robinson in the end zone. Overall, it was shades of the 2024 Giants, who struggled on both sides of the ball, but notably on offense as Wilson was under constant pressure.

Commanders put dagger in Giants with Deebo Samuel score

By Rob Reese

That's pretty much a wrap. The Commanders took a 21-6 lead off an impressive rushing TD from Deebo Samuel.

You be the judge: incompletion or fumble?

By Rob Reese

Another close call here as Tyrone Tracy Jr. appeared to haul in a reception and then the ball got knocked loose. Officials ruled it as an incompletion on the field.

Is this a fumble recovery or just a 3rd down incompletion?

Giants get a break from upheld ruling on Terry McLaurin drop

By Rob Reese

It sure looked like a catch from the broadcast view. Terry McLaurin appeared to haul in a catch but it was called as a drop. The refs upheld the call on Washington's challenge in what could come as a potential break for the Giants here.

Dan Quinn watched the replay of incomplete pass to Terry McLaurin on the jumbotron, then threw the challenge flag. But no dice.

Dean Blandino's take on FOX was that "it's just too close to change." Commanders punt.

Theo Johnson drops easy catch to sputter drive

By Rob Reese

Just when the Giants had an easy completion at their fingertips, Theo Johnson dropped a pass.

It would have been close to a first down as there was some room for Johnson to extend the play, should he have made the catch.
