The Greg Olsen Era in Carolina is coming to an end.
The Carolina Panthers announced an agreement with Olsen to part ways, and will make the three-time Pro Bowl tight end a free agent after Super Bowl 2020.
“The team and I are both on the same page that it is best we go in different directions for now,” Olsen said in a release.
Olsen, 34, has played 13 NFL season between the Chicago Bears and Panthers, but has considered retirement in recent weeks. Agent Drew Rosenhaus said his client “is still interested in playing and I will be in communication with other teams after the Super Bowl.”
If he doesn’t find any suitable NFL offers, the two-time All-Pro would be a major catch on TV. He made an impressive addition to Fox’s booth during Carolina’s Week 7 bye, providing analysis on the network’s Giants-Cardinals coverage.
In October, The Post’s Andrew Marchand reported Olsen and Fox were expected to discuss a potential XFL analyst role.
It’s the latest personnel change for the Panthers, who have a new coaching staff. They saw linebacker Luke Kuechly retire, and have quarterback Cam Newton entering the final year of his contract.
