ARLINGTON, Texas —The Jets will be breaking in a new kicker on Sunday.
Greg Zuerlein was declared out Saturday for the Week 2 game against the Cowboys after he suffered a groin injury on Thursday.
The Jets, after working out several kickers on Friday, signed veteran Austin Seibert and he will handle the kicking duties on Sunday.
This is a big loss for the Jets. Zuerlein, who steadied a position that has been a revolving door in recent years, had three field goals in the Jets’ Week 1 win over the Bills.
Greg Zuerlein won’t kick for the Jets on Sunday due to a groin injury. Bill Kostroun for the NY PostSeibert was a 2019 fifth-round pick of the Browns.
He kicked for Cleveland for two seasons and has also kicked for the Bengals and Lions.
He has made 80 percent of his field goal attempts in his career and went 3-for-5 with the Lions last season.
