As the Jets prepare to face the unbeaten Titans on Sunday one man looms larger than the rest, figuratively and literally. Albert Haynesworth has been a force for the Titans this season, and the Jets success offensively depends largely on neutralizing him. That job will fall mostly on Alan Faneca, the left guard and one of the team’s big acquisitions last winter. Now he gets to earn his money.

Haynesworth is 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds, and he moves like a much smaller man.

“He’s quick, explosive and at the same time he’s a really strong, powerful guy,” Faneca said. “Anytime you’ve got a guy that’s got both of those assets you have to honor them both. It’s not just some big guy you can just blow off the ball. You have to be ready for the quick move and the swim move and it makes your job a little bit more difficult when you have to honor those two things.”

Haynesworth had 54 tackles and seven sacks this season. The Jets need Faneca, with help from D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold to keep Haynesworth out of the backfield or it could be a long day in Nashville.

* Not much news out of Jets camp today. Eric Mangini said no decision has been made on who will kick this week. But can you really bench someone who made a game-winning, overtime field goal a week ago? That had to buy Jay Feely some security.

* Leon Washington had a Boston College jersey hanging in his locker along with a note from from Jets radio play-by-play man Bob Wischusen, a 1993 BC grad. The two had a friendly wager on the BC-Florida State game last week.

* Jeff Fisher has coached the Titans/Oilers since 1994. That’s longer than any other coach in the NFL, and is the third longest tenure in all of pro sports. Can you name the two managers/coaches who have been with their team longer than Fisher?
