Monday Night Countdown’s “C’Mon Man!” segment went a tad too far when it targeted a high school football quarterback who cost his team a game in the Arkansas state playoffs.
ESPN analyst Randy Moss rags on the high schooler for not properly executing a weird clock situation and points out how he got his team eliminated from the postseason as a result. Moss repeatedly uses the name of the player, Bladen Fike, while blatantly laughing at his expense.
His head coach, however, took responsibility for the loss and responded to the ESPN segment on Twitter.
“It’s disheartening to see @espn run a segment like this on a kid,” the coach wrote from an account @CdickC. “I as HIS HEAD COACH take full responsibility. Any criticism needs to be directed towards me. @BlakeFIke is a tremendous young man with a bright future! Proud to be his coach! #FamilY”
Added Fike: “I took my eye off the clock. However, criticizing me off of one play does not define me as a Quarterback. I am much better than that! I love my team and my coaches! Thanks for having my back. #familY #purpleReign @CdickC @RandyMoss”
