DeAndre Hopkins is taking the high road.

The former Texans wide receiver, who was dealt to the Cardinals in March in a widely criticized trade, didn’t take a victory lap after the Texans fired Bill O’Brien Monday as head coach and general manager following an 0-4 start.

“Wish bad on no man,” Hopkins wrote on Twitter.

Hopkins, 28, is one of the NFL’s elite receivers but was traded for running back David Johnson along with some draft-pick swaps. Hopkins told Sports Illustrated in April that he had “no relationship” with O’Brien, and that he asked for a raise hoping it would lead to a trade. Hopkins believes O’Brien was behind anonymous criticisms of the three-time All Pro about alleged missed practices and claims of associating with the wrong people.

“Obviously, we know where all that’s coming from,” Hopkins told SI. “There was no relationship (with O’Brien). Make sure you put that in there. There’s not a lot to speak about.”

Hopkins took to Twitter to mock his former team after their opening night loss to the Chiefs, simply writing “grateful.”

Before the 2020 NFL season began, Hopkins — negotiating the deal himself — signed a two-year contract extension worth $54.5 million in new money and a $27.5 million signing bonus, putting him under contract through 2024. Through four games this season, Hopkins has 39 catches for 397 yards and one touchdown.
