The camera added more than just a few pounds in Tony Romo’s case.

The Cowboys quarterback became a subject of scrutiny over the weekend after an unflattering photo of him jogging at training camp in Oxnard, Calif., made the rounds online.

Following the onslaught of fat-shaming comments, up-close observers spoke up to deflate the Romo weight debate.

“I just had lunch with him last Tuesday. Tony looks fine,” Cowboys legend Michael Irvin told Yahoo.

Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News, who took the shot originally, also vouched for Romo’s conditioning, blaming “poor camera work” and a deceptive angle.

A silly controversy around their quarterback is the last thing the Cowboys need as they settle in to camp. Already this offseason the team has had to answer for a mounting pile of more serious personnel issues. Esteemed rookie Ezekiel Elliott was accused of assaulting a former girlfriend, while vets DeMarcus Lawrence, Randy Gregory and Rolando McClain have all been suspended for substance abuse violations. Gregory and McClain were placed on the team’s reserve/did not report list.
