The couple that competes together, stays together.

“We’re very competitive,” J.J. Watt said of girlfriend Kealia Ohai at Tuesday’s Sports Illustrated Awards in Brooklyn, via People. “Very, very competitive and we like to workout together. She’s much faster than me, [while] I’m slightly stronger.”

“I’ve never heard him admit that. That I’m faster than him,” the soccer star quipped. “That’s nice!”

The Texans defensive end, who is recovering from tibial plateau fracture sustained in October, was named Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year, along with Houston Astros second baseman, Jose Altuve. Watt was an integral part of Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, raising over $37 million in less than three weeks.

Ohai, 25, a forward on the Houston Dash, joined Watt, 28, on the red carpet at the Barclays Center, marking their first public appearance together.

“Thankful to have my queen by my side,” Watt shared on Instagram.

First linked in October 2016, Watt accidentally outed his relationship with the blonde beauty during last year’s holiday season by sharing a snap featuring Ohai’s Christmas stocking. The duo have taken baby steps on social media in terms of confirming the coupling. In January, Watt whisked Ohai away to Mexico to celebrate her birthday.
