Rayshawn Jenkins got out of the Jaguars’ latest expected loss early on Sunday afternoon.
The safety was ejected during the second quarter for throwing a punch at 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings. The Jaguars were losing 10-0 at the time.
Jenkins and Jennings got tangled up during a run by 49ers wideout Deebo Samuel and continued to engage after the whistle. Jennings’ helmet got torn off during the tussle, after which Jenkins hit him in the face with an open right hand. A referee threw the flag following the swing and with 9:42 left in the first half, Jenkins was tossed for unnecessary roughness.
Instead of facing a 4th-and-2, the 49ers got a first down from the penalty and went on to score two plays later for the lead, 17-0.
