Jaguars running back Travis Etienne may have missed his entire rookie season, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t privy to the Urban Meyer circus in Jacksonville.

During a media session Tuesday, Etienne — who suffered a Lisfranc injury in the preseason, which ultimately cost him the year — was asked by a reporter if he was glad to be at a distance from the chaos that engulfed the organization last season.

“Definitely, that’s just the human element of it. Just seeing the results, you’re definitely like, ‘If there was any year to miss, I missed a great one,'” the 23-year-old said, prompting laughter from media members.

The Jaguars finished their 2021 campaign at 3-14, which included a number of notable missteps from first-year coach Meyer along the way.

Early into the season, Meyer opted to stay behind in Ohio after a road loss to the Bengals. From there, the former Buckeyes coach was filmed dancing at a bar with a woman — who was not his wife — which went viral on social media.

Meyer was later the subject of a damning NFL.com report, in which he was accused of belittling assistant coaches and asking them to defend their resumes. The final straw from Jaguars brass appeared to come in December when Josh Lambo, a former Jacksonville player, claimed Meyer had kicked him during an August practice.

Hours after the account was published by the Tampa Bay Times, Meyer was fired. He has since been replaced by Super Bowl-winning coach Doug Pederson, who was last with the Eagles.

“It’s easy to get behind a guy who’s been there, who has the blueprint,” Etienne said.

Etienne, the Jaguars’ 25th overall pick last year out of Clemson, added he’s “85 to 90 percent” back in his return from injury, per Fan Nation.
