Jamal Adams joined elite company on Friday.

The last time a Jets offensive or defensive player was named an Associated Press first team All-Pro, the year was 2011 and Darrelle Revis was receiving the honor. Adams, a 24-year-old, third-year safety, has joined that exclusive club, after a sensational season in which he had 75 tackles, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, seven passes defensed, an interception and two defensive touchdowns.

Eligible for a contract extension this offseason, this honor should only help the back-to-back Pro Bowler. It could also help that on Friday, Bears safety Eddie Jackson received a four-year extension worth $58.4 million with a fully guaranteed $22 million, making him the highest-paid safety in the sport.

Adams is two years younger than Jackson and is likely to surpass Jackson’s contract, either with the Jets or someone else.
