James Conner suffered a scary-looking injury during the third quarter of the Cardinals’ game against the 49ers, and his season looks like it’s over.
The running back was hit low on a rushing attempt when his ankle got trapped under him and appeared to bend in an awkward position as he was brought down by a 49ers player, immediately causing an obvious amount of pain for Conner.
Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters that he wasn’t sure what the severity of the injury was, but ESPN reported that the right ankle injury was “severe” enough that it required surgery and described it as a season-ending injury.
