Jay Glazer thinks the Zach Wilson era is officially over with the Jets.
Despite Wilson’s continued struggles this season, it would a stunning development for a player the Jets drafted second overall just over 18 months ago and one who has played just 22 games for Gang Green. But it seems that that being benched for Chris Streveler during Thursday night’s loss to the Jaguars might’ve been the last straw.
On Saturday’s Fox Sports’ pregame show, Glazer said that the Jets have “lost all confidence in Zach Wilson.” He claims that neither the Jets nor Wilson himself have confidence in the quarterback and to “expect the Jets to move on from him after this season.”
Zach Wilson Charles Wenzelberg / New York PostStill, Jets head coach Robert Saleh continues to leave the door cracked for Wilson.
After the Jets’ 19-3 loss in Jacksonville on Thursday, Saleh said “We’re not going to quit on him.”
Time will tell. The Jets will have some decisions to make, though. Mike White is a free agent after this season and there will be numerous options through the draft and in free agency.
Wilson’s short stint in New York has not been a good one. This season, he has thrown for just 1,686 yards, six touchdowns along with seven interceptions in nine games. He has a quarterback rating of just 72.8 and the Jets have sunk to 7-8 and last place in the AFC East.
