Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Thursday that he wouldn’t mind a quarterback controversy between Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush.
Rush, filling in for Prescott as he recovers from a thumb injury, led Dallas to a Week 2 win over the Bengals and will start against the Giants at MetLife Stadium on “Monday Night Football.” The 28-year-old back-up QB reeling off a few wins in the starter’s absence would be welcome to Jones.
“That means we’d won,” Jones told reporters of a potential controversy. “If he comes in and plays as well as Prescott played … I’d walk to New York to get that.”

Prescott returned to practice Thursday for the first time since injuring his thumb in the Cowboys’ Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Prescott wasn’t throwing footballs or taking snaps, but gripping and throwing training balls.

Prescott underwent surgery on the digit on Sept. 12 and was expected to miss 6-8 weeks. However, the Cowboys didn’t place Prescott on injured reserve, leading many to believe that he could return earlier.
