Darrelle Revis might not be the only big-name cornerback returning to the Jets.
According to a source, the Jets and free agent Antonio Cromartie went deep into Tuesday night in contract negotiations that continued Wednesday morning with the possibility of a deal being struck imminently.
Cromartie, who will play next season at the age of 31, is expected to choose Wednesday between the Jets and Cardinals, the team he played for last season when he made his third straight Pro Bowl. His defensive coordinator in Arizona was Todd Bowles, the newly installed Jets head coach.
Cromartie played for the Jets from 2010-13, recording a total of 13 interceptions. He paired with Revis, who agreed Tuesday to return to Gang Green on a massive $70 million contract, to form one of the league’s top cornerback tandems.
The outspoken Cromartie still has a residence in New Jersey.
