Observations from Jets training camp on Monday.
What a rush
The defensive line had a great practice, with Jermaine Johnson, Jacob Martin, Quincy Williams and Quinnen Williams all getting to Zach Wilson at various points, sending the quarterback scrambling and forcing him to throw off his heels.
Maligned line
Conversely, the offensive line had issues all around. Chuma Edoga, who came in for Mekhi Becton on the first team after Becton’s injury, and George Fant both struggled at tackle. Prior to his injury, Becton gave up a would-be sack as well.
It was a good day for the defensive line and coordinator Jeff Ulbrich (l.). Bill KostrounCaught my eye
Tyler Conklin’s catch over the middle on a dart from Wilson was one of the better plays of the day, as he came down with a contested catch. The tight end is coming off an impressive performance in the Green and White Scrimmage and is making a case for playing time amid a crowded depth chart.
Medical report
Becton’s injury, which looked to be a knee, was the news of the day, though Saleh was optimistic that it would turn out to be minor. Conor McDermott suffered a low ankle injury that will keep him out for a week or two, according to Saleh. D.J. Reed, Ty Johnson and Vinny Curry all missed practice with hamstring injuries.
