The Jets finally made a quarterback change and benched Zach Wilson, but that doesn’t make their quest to snap a 12-year playoff drought any easier.

They’re still 4-6. They’ve still lost three games in a row. They’ve still managed just two touchdowns since Week 8 against the Giants.

But with 29-year-old Tim Boyle as their signal-caller, the Jets will aim to upset the Dolphins in a Black Friday game at MetLife Stadium.

Miami, featuring Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddle, leads the NFL in yards per game (434.0) and sits second in points per game (30.5), but in their victory against the Raiders last week, its defense forced three turnovers. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who missed the first seven games of 2023 while recovering from a knee injury, snagged two of the Dolphins’ picks.

So while their offense will be difficult for the Jets’ defense to stop after allowing 32 points to the Bills on Sunday, they might struggle to score points against defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s unit, too. The Jets — players, coaches, seemingly everyone around the locker room — have supported Boyle throughout the week, but he’s 0-3 as a starter and has a 3:9 touchdown-to-interception ratio across 18 appearances.

Tim Boyle: 'Never really seen' anything like Hail Mary throw that turned into pick-six

By Andrew Crane

Tim Boyle's attempt at a Hail Mary before halftime turned into a pick-six by Jevon Holland, who raced 99 yards toward the opposite and avoided attempted tackles along the way. He said postgame that he felt like momentum was on the Jets' side following D.J. Reed's interception — the second thrown by Tua Tagovailoa in the final 90 seconds of the half — but that quickly changed.

"I've never really seen or been a part of anything like that, but it's a good learning experience," Boyle said. "You have to have a cover plan for just in case interceptions happen like that."

Pick-six disaster the final nail in Jets season’s coffin

By Steve Serby

And so from the franchise that gave us the Buttfumble came another Only the Jets moment. A Thanksgiving tradition like no other.

Here is how the Jets, and Only the Jets, execute it:

Tim Boyle, their overmatched third-string quarterback, the replacement for Zach Wilson, has the ball at his 49 with two seconds remaining in the first half following a D.J. Reed sideline interception of Tua Tagovailoa.

It is Dolphins 10, Jets 6, not because of Boyle, but because of a Brandin Echols pick-six.

Boyle backpedals and heaves one to the heavens, for a quarter of would-be heroes.

Jets’ helpless defense growing increasingly frustrated as effort falls short

By Mark Cannizzaro

C.J. Mosley was one of the last players to emerge from the showers after the Jets’ 34-13 loss to the Dolphins Friday at MetLife Stadium.

The linebacker and team captain sat at his locker stall in just a towel and had his head in his hands for an extended period of time in moments of reflection.

Like most of the Jets defensive players, who must be feeling helpless at the moment with the team on its third quarterback and an offensive line that’s played well into double digits personnel through 11 games, Mosley is at his wits end.

“It’s been tough, it’s been frustrating,’’ Mosley told The Post. “But if you’re going to change the culture and change the losing into winning, it’s going to be a lot more cries than laughs. And we’re still in that moment where we’ve got to figure it out.

“It’s hard. We could lose every single game these next couple weeks. We don’t know our future. We want try to put ourselves in position to win every single week. As a defense, we want to come out there expecting to be the best team on the field, but the best way [we] can do that is keep coming to work.’’

Micheal Clemons’ ejection at forefront of Jets’ troubling discipline issue

By Andrew Crane

Micheal Clemons wasn’t involved in the scrum when it first started.

He was stationed on the outside, watching the cluster of Jets and Dolphins descend into a chaotic sequence of shoves early in the fourth quarter.

But when Clemons entered and got involved, it ended with the defensive lineman’s arm striking umpire Carl Paganelli in the face — causing the official to spit up blood — and with him getting ejected.

Robert Saleh described it as “inadvertent” contact, with Paganelli crossing Clemons’ path as he appeared to point toward Miami offensive lineman Lester Cotton, but it still turned into one of four personal fouls committed by the Jets in their 34-13 loss Friday at MetLife Stadium.

“He’s pointing and he accidentally hit the referee,” Saleh said. “It’s still a foul.”

It’s fair to wonder if Robert Saleh will ever figure things out after latest ugly loss

By Mike Vaccaro

He lost his quarterback four plays into the season. He didn’t exactly have the old Washington Hogs offensive line to begin with, and now that group is peppered with third- and fourth-stringers. Things started bad for Robert Saleh in this, his third year as the Jets coach, and they’ve snowballed.

He was dealt a lousy hand.

So maybe it would be unfair to throw Saleh squarely on the griddle, because it would’ve been hard for anyone to make chicken salad out of this Jets season. But that doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to ask questions about whether he should be on the griddle. The Jets have festered and fallen that badly.

Black Friday was Bleak Friday at MetLife Stadium, a relentless parade of awfulness and Robert Saleh can’t be blamed for all of it. But he can certainly be blamed for much of it. You certainly could wonder if the 60 minutes of non-competitive football isn’t a product of this whole operation now. The final score was 34-13 in favor of the Dolphins. The Jets have suffered worse blowouts in their history.

But they’ve rarely looked this unprepared, this out of sorts. And that’s on the coach.

Jets Week 12 report card: This was a hideous performance

By Brian Costello

Offense

New quarterback, same results.

The offense put up 159 yards and scored one touchdown as Tim Boyle (27 of 38 for 179 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs, 67.8 QB rating) looked ineffective in his first start replacing Zach Wilson.

The Jets failed to convert on their first eight third-down tries and punted on their first five possessions before giving up an unbelievable 99-yard interception return.

Garrett Wilson struggles to describe offense's latest struggle: 'I'm out'

By Andrew Crane

Garrett Wilson, who has mostly been positive throughout the Jets' season-long offensive slump, struggled to describe the next move or change they could make. He didn't hint that he'd given up, but rather that he'd run out of ways to describe the same scenario over and over again.

I don't know what I could tell you all, I don't know what to tell the fans," Wilson said. "I don't know what they would want to hear. I'm out. I can't think of anything. I wish I could, man. We want to get this thing rolling. We're gonna keep grinding. We're gonna keep doing it, but as far as giving you all the soundbite or something to keep the faith, man, I don't know. I'm not even gonna try this week."

Heroes, zeros from Jets’ loss to Dolphins: Tim Boyle fails to prove needed spark

By Mark Cannizzaro

Heros, zeros and the full blitz from the Jets’ loss to the Dolphins on Friday:

Hero

Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries.

He put away the game, which was already decided, with a 34-yard TD run with 3:35 remaining.

Tim Boyle makes no difference as Jets embarrassed again in loss to Dolphins

By Brian Costello

OK, so maybe it wasn’t ALL Zach Wilson’s fault.

The Jets changed quarterbacks Friday but could not change the results.

They lost their fourth straight game, a 34-13 clunker to the Dolphins at MetLife Stadium.

It was the first-ever game on Black Friday, but the Jets still could not buy an offensive touchdown until garbage time, when the game was all but over.

Raheem Mostert adds second touchdown as Dolphins extend lead even more

So much for the Jets containing the Dolphins’ rushing attack.

Raheem Mostert scored on a 34-yard run with 3:35 remaining in the fourth quarter for his second touchdown of the game. The Dolphins now lead, 34-13, and have outgained the Jets, 397-135, in net yards.

Jets offense manages late touchdown with Tim Boyle-Garrett Wilson connection

By Andrew Crane

Tim Boyle admitted early in the week that he didn’t have many practice reps with Garrett Wilson.

But late in Friday’s game, the pair connected for the Jets’ first touchdown against the Dolphins, trimming their deficit to 27-13 with just over four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. It capped a six-play, 35-yard drive that started when Ashytn Davis recovered Tua Tagovailoa’s fumble.

Wilson has caught five passes for 29 yards and a touchdown.

Ashtyn Davis recovers Tua Tagovailoa fumble

By Andrew Crane

The Jets forced another Tua Tagovailoa turnover in the fourth quarter when he fumbled and Ashytn Davis recovered.

While the offense hasn't generated any points, the Jets' defense has forced three turnovers and allowed just 20 points to the NFL's No. 2 scoring offense. They've also been on the field for 20 more snaps than Gang Green's offense.
