Jets fans did not enjoy watching left tackle Duane Brown during the first two weeks of the season. Now, they are going to get to see his backup.

On Saturday, the Jets placed Brown on injured reserve with a hip injury, meaning he will miss at least four games.

They already had ruled Brown out for their game Sunday against the Patriots.

Brown did not practice this week due to the injury, but head coach Robert Saleh expressed optimism all week that the 38-year-old veteran would play.

Saleh did say on Friday that Brown was getting his hip checked out, which must not have gone well.

Saleh was coy about his plans for who would play in place of Brown.

He did say he did not think moving Mekhi Becton from right tackle to left would be a good idea.

“He has been practicing a certain way this entire week, so to move him in the last second would be irresponsible on our part,” Saleh said.

Saleh may have been engaging in gamesmanship, and the Jets could put Becton, who began his career at left tackle, there. If it is not Becton, the Jets likely will start Billy Turner.

The veteran spent most of training camp at that spot while Brown was recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. Second-year player Max Mitchell is another possibility, but Turner outplayed him this summer.

Brown has had a rough start to the season.

His pass block win rate is dead last in the NFL among 68 qualifying tackles, according to ESPN.

Brown had a rough day last week against the Cowboys and star Micah Parsons.

During Week 1, Brown did not execute a cut block fully on Bills edge rusher Leonard Floyd, who sacked Aaron Rodgers — the play that resulted in the quarterback suffering a torn left Achilles tendon.

The Jets did not make any moves at kicker, so Greg Zuerlein must be ready to play after he missed the game last week with a groin injury. … The Jets signed LB Sam Eguaveon to the active roster, elevated OL Chris Glaser from the practice squad and signed RB Xazavian Valladay to the practice squad. … The Patriots. on Saturday, ruled out starting CB Jonathan Jones (ankle). New England is now without its top two cornerbacks after Marcus Jones was placed on injured reserve this past week.
