Even Aaron Rodgers’ cameos at practice — and the chance that he could return earlier than expected this season — doesn’t change the Jets’ reality.

They’re still 4-7. They still need a win against the Falcons on Sunday at MetLife Stadium to keep their fading postseason hopes alive. And when Tim Boyle and the Jets host Bijan Robinson, Desmond Ridder and Atlanta (5-6), another loss could squash Rodgers’ attempt to return if the Jets aren’t in contention for a playoff berth.

The Falcons, even with their sub-.500 record, sit in first place in the NFC South. They’ve won just once across their past four games, but in a victory last week against New Orleans, Atlanta rushed for 228 yards — and their 139.3 yards per game ranks fourth in the NFL.

The Jets, though, have lost four consecutive games, and their shift to Boyle in Week 12 didn’t fix anything. The offense managed seven or fewer points for the third time in four games, too.

Robert Saleh doesn't name starter for Week 14

By Andrew Crane

It was an inevitable question about another quarterback change.

But Jets head coach Robert Saleh didn't name a starter for their Week 14 matchup against the Texans. Still, when asked if Zach Wilson — benched in favor of Tim Boyle against the Bills — could be an option, he said that Wilson is "always in consideration." The Jets turned to Trevor Siemian after Boyle threw an interception, and went three quarters without leading the offense to a touchdown, Sunday against the Falcons.

Tyler Conklin: Jets' five-game losing streak 'like a bad dream again' after 2022

By Andrew Crane

Tyler Conklin described the Jets’ latest loss — their fifth in a row after six consecutive defeats last year — as something that’s “like a bad dream again.” He had three catches on nine targets for 35 yards in their loss.

“To be on another five-game losing streak after what we went through last year, obviously, it doesn’t, it’s hard to put into words,” Conklin said later in his answer. “It sucks, right? Gotta find a way to get the hell out of it somehow. We got five more games to do so.”

"It's like a bad dream again."

Jets' struggles weigh on Garrett Wilson 'to the highest degree'

By Andrew Crane

Garrett Wilson's frustrations have been evident the past few weeks, as the Jets' offense continues to spiral. And when asked postgame about how much those struggles — which have largely contributed to their five-game losing streak — weigh on him, the second-year wideout said, "To the highest degree, bro."

In the Jets' 13-8 loss, which featured another quarterback change from Tim Boyle to Trevor Siemian, Wilson caught three of seven targets for 50 yards. He was also targeted on the interception that prompted the switch.

Q: "Garrett, how much does this losing and the struggles you guys are having on offense, how much does that weigh on you?"

A: "To the highest degree, bro... I'm gonna fix it. That's all." pic.twitter.com/VKDE7BW6xs

Jets Week 13 report card: The season looks all but over

By Brian Costello

Grading the Jets’ 13-8 loss to the Falcons on Sunday:

Offense

The Jets failed to reach the end zone for the third time in five games and they stumbled their way through another loss. The Jets actually moved the ball a little bit in this game but only scored two field goals on offense. They had drives of 10 and 12 plays, which is progress for this group.

QB Tim Boyle (14 of 25, 148 yards, 1 INT, 56.8 QB rating) did not see a wide-open Garrett Wilson (3 catches, 50 yards) in the first half. QB Trevor Siemian (5 of 13, 66 yards, 3 fumbles, 55.3 rating) did not do much better than Boyle in relief. RB Breece Hall (13 rushes, 16 yards) continues to struggle.

Jets’ Aaron Rodgers return dreams end with dismal loss to Falcons

By Brian Costello

Rest up, Aaron Rodgers.

Any hope of the Jets making a run at the playoffs and allowing Rodgers to return ended Sunday on a soggy day at MetLife Stadium with the Jets losing 13-8 to the Falcons in another dismal performance.

The loss, the Jets’ fifth straight, drops them to 4-8, meaning they are mathematically still alive for the playoffs but not realistically alive.

The Jets went to their fourth quarterback of the season with Robert Saleh benching Tim Boyle at the end of the third quarter and replacing him with Trevor Siemian.

Final: Jets’ postseason hopes all but gone after loss to Falcons

By Andrew Crane

Trevor Siemian and the Jets turned the ball over on downs to end their final possession, and the Falcons secured a 13-8 victory. The Jets dropped to 4-8. Their postseason hopes are all but over.

Trevor Siemian, Jets will get one more chance

By Andrew Crane

For as brutal as the Jets' offense has been again, Trevor Siemian will get another chance to win the game.

Gang Green's defense forced a stop, and the Falcons will punt after the two-minute warning. Quinton Jefferson forced Desmond Ridder to slide behind the line of scrimmage for a sack on third down.

Trevor Siemian fumbles in brutal Jets turnover

By Andrew Crane

It's now two punts and a fumble for Trevor Siemian in his three drives since replacing Tim Boyle.

Richie Grant knocked the ball out of Siemian's hands and Andre Smith Jr. recovered the ball with under three minutes remaining, but the Falcons needed to challenge in order to get the call reversed.

Jets punt on Trevor Siemian's first two drives

By Andrew Crane

Through two drives, Trevor Siemian hasn’t done anything extraordinary. He completed 3-of-6 passes for 29 yards, but both possessions have ended with punts — and the Jets still trail the Falcons, 13-8, as the fourth quarter nears the 6-minute mark.

The Jets’ defense got another stop, though, and they’ll get the ball back again.

When Siemian first entered the game, the Jets ran a play-action pass that turned into a 16-yard completion to Tyler Conklin. They also picked up another first down later in the drive after an unnecessary roughness penalty.

But the Jets needed a touchdown to keep their season alive. One first down, or even two, won't provide anywhere near the production needed.

Tim Boyle benched for Trevor Siemian as Jets make another QB change

By Andrew Crane

The Jets’ Tim Boyle experiment didn’t even last two games.

Trevor Siemian, who last started a game for the Jets in 2019, entered at quarterback to start the fourth quarter, with the Jets trailing 13-8 and the offense managing just two field goals against the Falcons’ defense. Boyle went 14-for-25 with 148 yards passing and the interception on their last drive.

There was a cheer from the fans at MetLife Stadium when Siemian jogged onto the field where he completed 3-of-6 passes in a game four years ago against the Browns before sustaining an ankle injury. He appeared in games for the Saints and Bears across the past two seasons.

End of 3Q: Jets, Falcons trade three-and-outs before Tim Boyle interception

By Andrew Crane

The offensive struggles by both the Jets and the Falcons haven’t improved, as they traded three-and-outs late in the third quarter after converting field goals. And then Tim Boyle threw an interception to Garrett Wilson with 26 seconds remaining in the frame to give possession back to Atlanta.

Gang Green wideout Jason Brownlee was injured on the play prior to the interception.

Perrion Winfrey carted off field following field goal

By Andrew Crane

Following the field goal, the entire Jets sideline came on the field and gathered around defensive lineman Perrion Winfrey — elevated from the practice squad for the first time since signing with the team last month — as he was carted off the field.

He’s the second Jets player to need the cart to exit Sunday, along with tight end C.J. Uzomah, who was ruled out earlier in the frame due to his knee injury from the first quarter.
